Our Cache #1 - Saddle Up Cowboy

3-28-09
This is the first cache that we planted, we picked up a magnetic container )with a signature log only) at the SF Seed Cache. We have to publish it yet, but we dropped it off so it would be ready to go. We planted this behind the Texas Roadhouse in a skirt lifter. We put it inside on the top of the box. It is brown so it blends in very well with the lifter. :) The kids came up with the name "Saddle Up Cowboy" as the cache name since we learned how to geocache in Texas while we were there at Christmas. We are showing you where the cache is located under this "skirt lifter."

#79 - Arrowhead on the Rocks

3-28-09
We had checked this one earlier in the day and KJ was sitting on the rocks by the water. There was a guy there taking pictures of the ducks so we just sat and waited. We could not find it. Well...we went back to the car and looked at the clue which was "pull the wire". When we went back the 2nd time, I found this by pulling a wire that was tied to a tree. The cache was dangling in between two rocks. We left a plastic duck since it was right by a pond filled with geese. This was our last cache of the day making the total 20! We had never found that many in a day before.

#78 - Kid Friendly #17

3-28-09
This was a quick grab by a park behind Painted Prairie. Kendall went through the bushes and Kait and I went around the fence. We ended up finding it first. Kait claims this one and we signed the log.

#77 - SF Seed Cache

3-28-09
This was a great idea for a cache. This was located right in front of their house. There was a hose box that was full of all kinds of cache that was ready for you to take and "plant" somewhere else. We took a magnetic cache and a camo container. We also took an orange troll travel bug. While we were signing the log, the home owners were just leaving. They smiled at us, asked if we were having fun, and locked their house and left. Kind of an awkward moment...like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar. :) Oh well. Fun!

#76 - Shop Till You Drop #5

3-28-09
We ran over to the Sam's parking lot and grabbed another shopping cache. Jack jumped out and grabbed the cache while two shoppers were loading their truck. They looked at him like he was very strange. We had to drive around the parking lot until they left before replacing the cache.

#75 - Shop Till You Drop #4

3-28-09
This one was in the Michael's parking lot. I jumped out of the truck and grabbed this one. We signed the log and replaced it.

#74 - Shop Till You Drop #6

3-28-09
This one was located in the Menard's parking lot. KJ quickly grabbed this one...says he is getting sick of the skirt lifters. He wants to get back to hiking in the parks...:) Quickly signed the log.

#73 - Shop Till You Drop #7

3-28-09
This one we grabbed in the Toys 'R Us parking lot right before heading for the Texas Roadhouse for an early supper. I jumped out and signed the log.

#72 - Shop Till You Drop #9

3-28-09
This one was a little difficult since it was under a "skirt lifter" in the Lewis Family Drug parking lot. They are preparing for summer landscaping and stacked lots of blocks around the light post. Kait climbed over the pavers and grabbed the cache.

#71 - History, His Story, Her Story

3-28-09
This one was located at a retirement home in the pine tree out front. Jack sat in the car and could see it...however, he just sat there and watched us walk around looking for it. :) Nice huh? When Kait finally noticed it, she yelled "I found it!" just as a worker was leaving for the day. Luckily, the workers and residents all know about the cache. She just smiled and walked on. We took "Kayla the Brat" travel bug. We left an Awesome Blossoms keychain.

#70 - Shriner Micro

3-28-09
We took a second try at this one. We had tried it in January and it was very cold and there were lots of Shriners going to the Shrine on a Saturday afternoon. We gave up and tried today. Guess who found it...Kendall. We told him it was hard so of course he had to prove us wrong! This was a small cylinder covered with moss so it blended very well in with the pine tree.

#69 - Mr. Bendo Cache

3-28-09
This one was located right behind Mr. Bendo. The clue was "Itsy bitsy spider" so we figured it had something to do with the water spout. Kait and I jumped out of the car (Kendall was crabbing that he was so hungry so he stayed in the car.) and both checked water spouts. I happened to find the right one, so I claim this one! :)

#68 - Shop Till You Drop #2

3-28-09
This one was at HyVee on 10th Street. We made Jack go and get this one since he always "lags" behind and doesn't get to claim any caches.

#67 - Shop Till You Drop #1

3-28-09
This was a quick park and grab by Shopko on 10th Street. I grabbed this one and signed the log. KJ had to help me put the "skirt lifter" back together since it was old and rusty. This was our 8th find of the day.

#66 - Winter Friendly Cache #1

3-28-09
This one was located next to the Walmart on 10th. The only clue was "in a tree" and there was a row of about 30 trees. The GPS was right on and Kait happened to be on the right side of the tree. She quickly grabbed the cache. See who was being a "cache hog" today. It is usually KJ who grabs them all.

#65 - Shop Till You Drop #10

3-28-09
We decided to give the "Shop Till You Drop" series a try. These were all placed by campingfarmer/bosslady on March 15. We were surprised to see that a lot of people had found these in the last 2 weeks. This one is located at the Walmart on 10th Street. Jack parked right by this one and Kait jumped out and grabbed the cache.

#64 - Arrowhead Rocky Road

3-28-09
We continued down the rocky road and found a small pine tree. I found this one even though Kait says she spotted it first, just didn't say anything to me. Ha!Ha! We signed the log, took a new nickel, and left a bracelet.

#63 - Quarry Cache

3-28-09
We kept going on the trail about another 1/2 mile. In the back of the park, there was a quarry that we walked down and found an ammo box. KJ found this one since it took the rest of us longer to climb down the rocks. We left our Hannah's Trip TB in the cache and signed the log. Onto the next cache.

#62 - Arrowhead Wooden Barn

3-28-09
We went to Arrowhead Park and had to hike about .8 of a mile for the first cache. We walked all the way back there and Kendall walks right up to a tree and lifts the black tubing around it. A black pill bottle falls out and he grabs the cache. Kendall kept a small green truck and we left an ABC Bowling Award.

#61 - Perry Rock Fossil

3-28-09
This is #2 for the day! We hiked about 1/2 mile from the first cache. We had to wait for a couple walking their dog to pass by. I had the GPS and walked right over the cache. Of course, Kendall found it. We took a Lance Armstrong Live Strong bracelet and left a pen.

#60 - Beginning #1 - Perry Nature Center

3-28-09
We went on a spring Saturday to have a Geocaching adventure. The weather was cool and brisk. We stopped at the Perry Nature Center. We hiked about a half mile to the first cache. Kait complained that she never finds any caches, so KJ and I let her go a ways ahead so she could find the cache. She found it! :) The clue was look in all of the openings in the base of the tree.

#59 - End of the Line

3-27-09
Kait found our 2nd night cache! This one was at the base of a pole that marked the end of a road. It was in a tupperware container that had a crack in the top. The log was frozen. We signed it with our purple felt tip pen on top of the frost! Brr... I can't wait to cache in the summer.

#58 - SaidCache Adventure #2

3-27-09
Kait and I ran over to Sheldon on a Friday night to dod a few night caches. These are harder than they are during the day. We found this one as we walked through the park in the dark! Luckily we had our flashlights. We found a camo peanut butter jar in the hollow of a broken tree trunk. I (Shari) get credit for this one. :-)

#57 - Fido Needs a Stretch

3-22-09
This was our last cache for the day. It was a magnetic blinkie on the pole that goes from the car parking lot to the trucker parking lot. It was a quick find on a rainy day! Shari foud this one.

#56 - I Like Ike

3-22-09
We found this one in the sign for the interstate. We needed about a 3 inch bolt to push the small magnetic nano out of the hole it was hiding in. Luckily we found one on the ground nearby. We signed the log and kept going home. We were in Omaha for the day looking for prom dresses for Kait. We needed a little stress relief! :)

#55 - Sertoma Scrub

3-22-09
We were so excited thinking we would get a first to find. This one was published the night before! We got there about 9:30 in the rain...hiked up a steep hill and found that we were the 2nd to find it. Maybe next time!

#54 - Sertoma Park

3-22-09
We parked up by the watertower in Sioux City and started walking in the woods. The terrain was steep and getting damp because it was sprinkling. We found this one quickly. We swapped the Twins Territory TB and took Hannah's Trip TB. Enjoyed the view for a few seconds and left! :)

#53 - South Bottoms

3-16-09
This was another one found after the NAIA Basketball game. We parked in the casino parking lot and walked over to a memorial. This was a magnetic nano. We signed the log and stopped because of darkness. We are going to have to get some flashlights so we can start geocaching at night! :)

#52 - L & C Sergeant Floyd River Museum

3-16-09
Kait and I went to the NAIA Northwest game when they played Morningside. It was a great game and got over when it was still light! We went across the road and grabbed a few. This one had a clue..."When the bough breaks". We figured it meant the craddle will fall...so we looked under the tree. This was a full size ammo box in a rubbermaid container. The container was in a hole that was dug in the ground. We left a TB - Aid the Cacher.

#51 - Go East Young Man, Go East!

3-4-09
This was found on the Eastbound rest area on the way to Des Moines. Kendall had to go through long grasses and it was a little muddy. He found an ammo box chained to a tree. We dropped off "Baseball Fanatic" travel bug. Signed the log and took nothing else. Off to the game!

#50 - Arking Only

3-4-09
We stopped at this one on our way to Girls' State Basketball. This was a rest area with just a place to park and rest...missing the "p". Get it? Ha! Kendall was the only one with boots on, so he went through the long grass and grabbed the cache. It was a magnetic camo pill bottle. We signed the log and kept going down the road!
