#114 - Picnic Cache

4-19-09
This was our last cache of the day! We rode over to a picnic area and headed down the hill. We all looked high and low and Keeley ended up grabbing the cache.

#113 - Cedar Bench Cache

4-19-09
We headed down from the lookout tower (after we couldn't find that one) and took a path that lead to a cedar bench. Here Keeley found the cache! We found a travel coin, but only will log as discovered since the owner doesn't want it moved.

#112 - Cedar Micro Cache

4-19-09
We found this one next to the road in a bunch of pine trees. Keeley spotted this one and ran around the the other side to get it. It was hanging on a branch about 6 feet in the air. This was a silver cylinder that was tricky to get open. We finally figured it out. Keeley claims this one.

#111 - Edge of Prairie

4-19-09
We kept going down the road until we came to the edge of the prairie. Keeley found this one by running ahead of Kait and I. This was a pill bottle hanging the tree.

#110 - The Lodge Cache

4-19-09
This was a small peanut butter jar that was located what seemed like out in plain sight by the lodge near the road. We signed the log and covered it with leaves so it would be hidden better. I found this one.

#109 - Just Hanging #2

4-19-09
This was at the edge of the park. We walked there from the truck while Keeley listened to the radio. We could hear her singing all the way to the cache and could hear the bass outside the car. Kait and I walked the 50 feet to the cache and there it was...just hanging in a small tree. Kait found her 1st one for the day!

#108 - Point Cache

4-19-09
This was located at the southwest corner of Newton Hills Park. Keeley drove us over there and waited in the car so we had a try to get it instead of her. :-) We went about 200 feet and found an ammo box under a fallen tree. We took "Message in a Bottle" travel coin and left Jose Javelina TB. I found this one.

#107 - Lakota View

4-19-09
This was located about 200 feet from the entrance of Lake Lakota. This was an ammo box and guess who found it...Keeley! She is being the cache hog today! The clue was: under the cedar bough. That's where Keeley found it. She is on a roll today!

#106 - Enjoy the View

4-19-09
We hiked through the long grass up the hill from the lake. We found a plastic ammo can that had lots of trade items in it. We took nothing and left a WWJD Keychain in the cache. I found this one! Kait continues to take the photos for the day.

#105 - Lakota View #2

4-19-09
We had to bushwack about 250 feet up the hill. We found a coffee can that was painted green. We took a plastic pink pig for KJ and left a blue money from the barrel of monkeys! Keeley made this find! She is on a roll today!

#104 - Lunch Break

4-19-09
This was a micro located near under the roof of a shelter house. We searched high and low and finally found it on one of the rafters. I found this one. We can't let Keeley have all of them today!

#103 - Lakeview Cache

4-19-09
We hiked up from the parking lot and enjoyed the most beautiful view of the lake. We followed the deer trail and it led us right up to the tree where Keeley again found the cache! Here we found an ammo can. We signed the log. We took nothing and left a Fish Iowa Lakes pin.

#102 - Parking Lot Cache

4-19-09
We went to Newton Hills State Park on Sunday to ride the bike trail and find caches at the same time. We started by Lake Lakota. It was a beautiful view of the lake and lots of hiking in the woods. We started up the hill from the parking lot and Keeley quickly found this one. This was a small pill bottle. We signed the log and continued.

#101 - Have Faith

4-18-09
We stopped by Faith Reformed Church before we went to the movie theater in Sioux Center. It was sprinkling, but we wanted to get another cache! Keeley found this one near the ground under a big pine tree before Kait and I even got there. The hint was: if you have trouble with this one, get on your knees and pray.

Summary of Cache Finds

After 100 caches found...here is a list of our rankings:

Auntie Di - 2
Keeley - 6
Jack - 7
Kait - 18
Kendall - 26
Shari - 41

Perfect Attendance - Shari...who went along for every cache! :-)

#100 - Kix's Cache

4-13-09
We saved this one for our 100th find! This one is the only cache in the town of George...at least for now. We have several planned for the bike trail to be published soon! :-) Anyway...we went up to the cache downtown and found it easily. Who knew that it was right under a bush closest to the road and was hidden by some leaves. There were lots of muggles standing outside the bar smoking, but they couldn't see us at the cache (and I really don't think they cared either). We left a $1.00 bill with the words "Iowa Crew, 100th Find, and www.geocaching.com" written on it in the cache.

#99 - Not Niagra!

4-13-09
We got back from Sioux Falls and Kait and I were so close to 100. We decided to run over to Ashton and pick up #99. We quickly drove to the right side of the river since we had been there once before and were on the wrong side. We drove to about 100 feet away from the cache. We walked up to it and I spotted it in a hollow part of a tree. One more cache until 100!

#98 - Skunk Creek Cache #1

4-13-09
We continued down the bike trail and found the cache under a tree. I found this one! We dropped off a travel bug and grabbed a travel coin. We were getting so excited to get to 100 and then Keeley called...they were done with their movie and needed to be picked up. We would have to get our 100 another time.

#97 - I-29 Bridge Troll

4-13-09
Out hunting trolls this afternoon! Heard some trip-trapping muggles over the bridge while we were hunting so we waited quietly and they crossed. Then we continued to search. I got this one! Signed the log and returned it to the bottom of the bridge.

#96 - Shop Till You Drop #3

4-13-09
We still have a few to do in this series. We ran over to Lowe's and found this one under a "skirt lifter". Kait gets credit for this one.

#95 - Johnny C's

4-13-09
We found this one in the woods near Johnny Carino's Restaurant. We were looking all over the ground, in the trees, when all of the sudden Kait looked up and there it was, hanging on a branch. This was a small juice bottle covered in camo tape. We signed the log and kept caching.

#94 - OG Vantage for Fun

4-13-09
This one was near O'Gorman High School. This was a seed cache from 5-4-Fun and was a film container covered in silver duct tape. The cache was a signature log. We found it in the hollow park of a tree on a hill west of the school. I found this one. Still waiting for the girls to finish shopping.

#93 - The Flame

4-13-09
We found this one in the woods off the bike trail by a small river. This was an ammo box in the middle of a hallowed out tree. There were red/orange logs that covered the box in the tree. It almost looked like a fireplace...I guess that's where they got the name. Kait gets credit for finding this one as a muggle was watching from across the river. He was in a wheelchair on the bike path, I highly doubt he will find or check this one out.

#92 - Yoshi's Island

4-13-09
This one was behind the stores south of Olive Garden and Fuddruckers. We walked through the weeds into the trees. I found this one. We signed the log and kept going down the bike trail.

#91 - Geocachers Witness Protection Agency

4-13-09
Keeley wanted to go shopping with a bunch of her friends, so Kait and I used the free time to go geocaching. We dropped them off at the mall and were on our way. We walked across the grass lot and Kait found this one first. This was a mystery cache and we had to sign using a "code name" instead of Iowa Crew. I was Snickle Gizzard Sprinkles and Kait was Dorky Gizzard Sprinkles. We dropped off a "Darth Tator" travel bug, signed the log and went on with caching. We were trying to get to our 100th cache since January.

#90 - Marvin the Martian

4-11-09
We walked about .14 miles farther and found the next cache. This one was an ammo can under a hollow log. We opened it up, hoping to find a travel bug, but had no luck. It was full of lots of little junk. I found this one. We signed the log and then had about .4 miles to hike back UP to the car. The incline seemed a lot steeper going back to the car. We never did figure out how they got the name for this one?

#89 - Hidden Bridge

4-11-09
We kept walking down the hill about .14 miles from the last one and found this cache container. It was off the path and then up the hill a ways. We signed the log and added a keychain. I found this one.

#88 - Deano

4-11-09
We stopped by Hidden Bridge Nature Area on our way home from Sioux Falls. We hiked down the hill to get to this one. Keeley spotted this one handing out of the mouth of a plastic dinosaur. Here you will see her pointing to the cache! This was a small micro container. We signed the log and kept hiking.

#87 - Rock Valley Trails #5

4-10-09
We were about to go home, but decided to look for one last cache. We went to the campground and walked about .10 of a mile and Kait found this one in a small pine tree using her handy pocket flashlight! Time to call it a night. Another great time geocaching. We walked about 3 miles tonight.

#86 - Rock Valley Trails #2

4-10-09
We took a walk on the Rock Valley Trails. It was a great night for a walk on the trail. We attempted to do a multi....and found 3 of the 4, but couldn't come up with the final. We will try again soon! We found this one before we went back to the car.

#85 - Veteran's Memorial Cache

4-10-09
We drove south of Rock Valley to the Veteran's Memorial. We found this cache under the flag pole in a magnetic container. We signed the log and went back into town.

#84 - Big Drive

4-10-09
This one was at the start of a driving range. There is a bench to sit and wait. The clue for this one is "you are sitting on it." Kait found the small micro under the bench! We signed the log and were on our way.

#83 - The Crap Cache

4-10-09
Not sure about the name of this cache. It was located about .10 miles from the NW IA TB Hotel. When we drove up to this one, Jack and Kait saw it from the road. Kait claims this one.

#82 - Northwest Iowa Coin & Bug Hotel

4-10-09
We drove west of Rock Valley to find the cutest TB hotel! This will be a great place to drop off our TBs for some much needed R&R. This was located on "campingfarmer and boss lady's" front yard, they are fellow geocachers that place a lot of caches that we have found and have on our to-do list. We left "Kayla the Brat" TB and took a Diabetes TB and "Darth Tater" TB.

#81 - Another Dam View

4-1-09
This one brought us to the dam in Rock Rapids' Island Park. The river had been up so we had to walk across the bridge. We quickly found the cache and I got to claim it! We signed the log and walked back to the truck. When we got there, we realized that we didn't take a picture...which we have done for all of our finds. So we hiked back "over the river and through the grass to a geocache we would go"...by this time it was getting dark! We also brought some trinkets to add to the cache.

#80 - All's Fair

4-1-09
New Cache...Just Published! This one came up as a new cache just published a couple of hours ago! Kendall and I jumped into his caching truck and flew to Rock Rapids while the girls were at church for Wednesday night activities! We thought we were going to get our 1st FTF (First to Find). We punched in the coordinates on the way and had a great idea where it was.(At the Lyon County Fair Building) The clue was...Go Slow. We found this on the northwest corner of the fair building. It was a very small magnetic blinkie that was near the SLOW sign. I quickly found it and opened it. Rats! StaticTank had already driven down from Sioux Falls and got the FTF. Maybe next time!
